Filming of the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, has been suspended pending the investigation of an accident on the set involving a stunt driver. The accident occured in the town of Limone sul Garda, Italy where a crew has been filming driving sequences for the past two weeks.
The team was filming a chase sequence involving a truck and James Bond’s Aston Martin along a curve filled lakeside road. A stunt driver behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo crashed into a wall and sustained serious head injuries. Luckily, there was an emergency helicopter on standby during the filming which flew the driver to the nearby town of Verona.
This accident was the second one to occur on the James Bond set in four days, following an incident in which an Aston Martin skidded into the nearby lake.
Stunt sequences are an inherently dangerous aspect of filming action movies. Injuries and even death can occur on the set.
