Three people were injured in an accident in Kaufman County late last night. The service road along Highway 80 was shut down at Windmill Farms Boulevard after a tractor-trailer crashed into two parked vehicles.

A helicopter flew three people from the scene of the wreck to a nearby hospital. Their condition has not been released.

Damage to the tractor-trailer caused its contents to be spilled onto the road.

Large trucks can weigh more than 70,000 lbs. According to the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), nearly 5,000 deaths occur every year as a result of tractor-trailer accidents. This means that nearly 12% of all traffic deaths in the United States are caused by big truck accidents.
