A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Walt Disney World by the family of a 4 year old boy that died after riding Epcot’s Mission: Space ride. An autopsy revealed that the boy’s death was caused by an irregular heartbeat brought about by the stress of the ride on the boy’s body.
The ride, Mission: Space, spins riders in a centrifuge, subjecting the rider to twice the normal force of gravity. Several riders have been taken to the emergency room with chest pain in the past, prompting Disney to place signs warning people with heart, back and neck problems not to ride.
The suit alleges that Disney did not properly warn the public of hazards associated with the ride, should not have allowed small children to ride and should have done more to help the child after this incident.
