Interstate 635 westbound was shut down for most of this
morning after a box truck full of wine bottles tipped over. The driver of the
truck was injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital. The cause of the
accident was being investigated.
A team of workers worked quickly to clear the wreckage.
Wreckers were able to eventually get the truck upright and cleared by 8:30. Motorists were advised to take
alternative routes.
Big truck accidents can be very dangerous. Statistics show
that each year thousands of motorists are killed or severely injured by the
negligent operation of 18 wheeler drivers.
Mechanical failures, reckless driving, and improper driver
training can all be causes for big rig accidents, but the statistics show that
driver fatigue is the number one cause. In a recent survey, almost 20% of
truckers admitted to falling asleep at the wheel at least once in the previous
three months. Visit this link to learn how to stay safe and avoid tractor trailer accidents.
